At Stranded, we know that our customers want to make educated choices when spending their hard-earned money - especially on products that are going to impact their appearance and self-confidence. That’s why we write these blogs!
In this article, you are going to learn everything you need to know about the Wand Wave collection, including comparisons to other similar Stranded products and how to care for your extensions. We know that once you have all the information you need, you will make the best purchase for you (even if that isn’t a Wand Wave product).
What inspired the Wand Wave extensions?
The Wand Wave collection was inspired by the salon finish we all crave that we could make at home. Salon waves give you that insta-worthy look, embodying both a modern and light feminine look.
When you get your hair styled by a professional, you often find that trends have moved from tight ringlets or thick curls to a more defined and softer wave. These waves are often flatter and flow in the same direction, created with a heated wand, giving the hair gentle 2D movement rather than dramatic 3D bounce.
How were the Wand Wave extensions designed?
The Wand Wave collection was designed with the salon finish in mind, with the help of three crucial partnerships.
First, we worked with industry professionals, including hairdresser and salon owner Charlotte Quinn. With salon experience and perfected technique, they helped our in-house designers to model and create the design on synthetic hair, in both the one piece and ponytail styles.
Then, we sent these designs over to our manufacturing partners at a family-run factory in China, for samples to be produced. This took a few tries, but the final product ended up perfect in the end.
Finally, we showed the samples to our stockists across the country, to receive feedback on whether this design would be popular with their existing customers and meet market demands.

One Piece Clip-in Extensions: Wand Wave vs Curly
The closest comparison to the Wand Wave one piece, that we stock at Stranded, is the Curly one piece.
Both products are similar, in the sense that they both have 26-centimetre width lace, 5 silicone-lined extension clips and come in 32 multidimensional shades to choose from. Both one pieces are also heat resistant (up to 180℃) and come pre-styled for your convenience.
However, there are notable differences between the two products.
The Wand Wave only comes in the desirable 20” length, whereas the Curly one piece comes in both 16” and 20”. In terms of price, the Wand Wave 20” costs £34 and the Curly 20” costs £32.
However, the £2 price difference accounts for an extra 7g of hair and a completely new, unique style - compared to the Curly. The Wand Wave has loose, defined waves with gentle movement, whereas the Curly has bouncy, 3D curls.

Clip-in Ponytail Extensions: Wand Wave vs Body Wave
Stranded’s closest comparison to the Wand Wave ponytail is the Body Wave ponytail.
There are similarities between both products, in the sense that they both cost £30 and come in 32 multidimensional shades to choose from. Both ponytails are also heat resistant (up to 180℃) and come pre-styled for your convenience.
However, like with the one piece comparison, there are notable differences between the two products.
The Wand Wave only comes in a slightly shorter 24” length, whereas the Body Wave ponytail comes in 26”. There is a slight variation in weight, accounted for by the different lengths and clip methods. Wand Wave uses a bulldog clip and drawstring, weighing 198g, and Body Wave uses a comb and wrap, weighing 204g.
The biggest difference, however, is the style. As you can see from the images, Wand Wave is a loose wave with more movement, whereas the Body Wave has more controlled, defined waves that are flatter.
